Lake Toba
Hello Readers!
You know? when I was children, I have already gone to Lake Toba. And I always went to Lake Toba in the weekend with my family. When I'm in Junior high school, I felt bored to Lake Toba. But now, I felt awful. Why? Because I can't go to Lake Toba as often as before. I hope I can go to Lake Toba on this year's holiday.
Anyway, Do you know Lake Toba?
Lake Toba is a large natural lake in Indonesia occupying the caldera of a supervolcano. The lake is about 100 kilometers (62 miles) long, 30 kilometers (19 mi) wide, and up to 505 meters (1,657 ft) deep. Located in the middle of the northern part of the Indonesia island of North Sumatera You know? In the Lake Toba at the bottom of the Toba lake, there is a volcano. the ancient mountain erupted until it shocked the world. The Toba eruption (the Toba event) occurred at what is now Lake Toba about 75,000±900 years ago. Mount Toba erupted three times. The first eruption occurred around 800 thousand years ago. This eruption produced a caldera in the south of Lake Toba, covering the Parapat and Porsea regions. The second eruption, which has less power, occurred 500 thousand years ago. This eruption forms the caldera north of Lake Toba. Precisely in the area between Silalahi and Haranggaol. Of these two eruptions, the third eruption was the most violent. The third eruption of 74,000 years ago produced a caldera and becomes Lake Toba now with Samosir Island in the middle. Mount Toba is classified as supervulkan. This is because Mount Toba has a large magma bag which if the caldera erupts is very large. The average Volcano is hundreds of meters on average, while the Supervolcano can reach tens of kilometers. What's interesting is the occurrence of gravity anomalies in Toba. According to the law of gravity, between one place and another will have the same gravity if it has the same mass, altitude, and relativity. If there is another material in there with a different mass, the attraction is different. Imagine a volcano erupting. A lot of material comes out, which means losing mass and decreasing attraction. Then what happens is up-lifting. This is what caused the emergence of Samosir Island. The magma below kept pushing up, slowly. He had no power to erupt. This movement tries to adjust to normal gravity. This happens in thousands of years. Only Samosir was lifted because the area was the weakest. While other areas are the walls of the caldera. This is the video about Like Toba
